Why choose DANCE|PREHAB?
Through physical therapy and performance training, DANCE|PREHAB seeks to help dancers close the gap between injury and returning to the performance space. Through our rehabilitative and specialized Performance Prehab programs, we offer a standard of physical health and wellness support that we believe artistic-athletes deserve.
What does a DANCE|PREHAB session look like?
Your first visit begins with a DANCE|PREHAB Evaluation, where we perform a full-body assessment, movement analysis, and discuss your goals. Subsequent sessions of PT or Performance Prehab are tailored towards your personal goals. All sessions are 60 minutes.
What is the difference between Physical Therapy and Performance Prehab?
Physical therapy sessions are geared towards dancers who require rehabilitation (due to short-term or long-term injuries). Our Performance Prehab program is for the dancer who is interested in elevating their dance technique and performance through a resistance and weight training approach.
What conditions can I come to DANCE|PREHAB for physical therapy?
We treat a variety of dance-related musculoskeletal conditions including neck pain, back pain, rotator cuff dysfunction, muscle spasms and strains, ligament sprains, tendonitis/tendinosis, postsurgical rehabilitation and more. Physical therapy visits are typically 1-2 times a week for 4-8 weeks. However, this ultimately depends on the type or extent of injury or need for recovery.
How is my Performance Prehab program structured?
The Performance Prehab program is tailored to your unique needs. Frequency will depend on how heavy your training load is, where you are in your growth, and your specific goals.
Past programs have included:
- Managing changes in strength, stability, and coordination during periods of growth.
- Preparation for a solo or group piece.
- Improvement in performance capacity (eg. jump/plyometric training)
- Weight/resistance training education for artist-athletes.
Does DANCE|PREHAB take insurance?
We offer cash-based services which eliminates systemic barriers to quality of care. You may use your out of network insurance benefits, health savings account (HSA) or flex spending account (FSA). While we do collect our fees directly from our clients, we provide an itemized superbill for you to submit to your insurance company. By submitting your receipt, you may be able to recover a percentage of the cost you pay upfront (typically 60-80%) from your insurance company, depending on your "out of network" coverage.
From our experience, barriers to care via insurance companies have included:
- Limitations to number of approved visits
- Restrictions on body regions we are allowed to address at the same time
- Whether or not they deem an injury to be "serious" enough to warrant physical therapy.
